There seems to be an incessant flow of rising talent out of South Florida, and Carol City Florida's Brent Ewing is no exception. Today he links up with Zoey Dollaz, giving us the incredibly smooth, R&B single "The Fall."
We last saw Ewing in 2020 with his standout single "Tuscan Leather," and "The Fall" builds on the reputation he's establishing as a skilled melodic vocalist, with sultry Hip-Hop influences that'll have listeners falling for more than just this single. Brent and Zoey have a natural compatibility, feeding off each other's flows and energy, creating a tenor that is both upbeat, yet with a slowed, sensual undertone. Starting off the song hot, Brent sets the mood when he sings,
"Shawty don't pull up on the weekday,
Only hit my line on the weekend,
Shawty know I'm safe with the secrets,
Send a couple pics I won't leak it."
The melodies, in particular when Brent sings "not ready for the fall" post chorus, are what hooked me after the first listen. Add the hard-hitting percussion and harp/guitar strums of the instrumental, and you have a real threat to the R&B scene on your hands. Don't sleep on this one, as it's one of the strongest tracks of this week's new music Friday, listen below.
