This week covid restrictions in many places were lifted as the summer season officially begun – but for some (myself included), emerging from quarantine has not been as seamless as perhaps we envisioned. To shake us out of our covid-malaise and prepare us for the upcoming summer season, this week singer/songwriter Christian French returns with “avalanche," his first release of 2021. To keep it simple, “avalanche” is everything you’d ever want from a summery pop banger – powerful vocal performances, punchy percussion and infectiously melodic mixes find their home on this upbeat new track from the Indiana singer-songwriter. If the rest of the summer is supplemented with tracks like these, then we’re in for quite a treat.

Perfect for backyard kickbacks or speeding down PCH with your friends, “avalanche” sees Christian French synthesizing his affinity for clever songwriting with a distinct EDM-flavored pop sound. Though the track’s subject matter is actually quite tense, detailing an internal struggle over romantic tensions, Christian French’s performance is so electrifying that the positive energy that he instills in the listener eclipses everything else. With more music likely coming down the pipeline, I’m crossing my fingers that this isn’t the only Christian French jam that will make my summer rotation.
