I am not exaggerating when I say “PORN ACTING*” by Jean Dawson was one of my most emotional listens ever. Jean is one of my biggest idols, someone I truly look up to, and while listening to this track on loop over 50 times as soon as it came out, I kept retelling myself, “I am literally witnessing greatness before my eyes.”

Jean has released some impeccable tracks before – some of my favorites include “Clear Bones” and “Pity Party” – but “PORN ACTING*” is perfection, the epitome of everything he has been working towards. It showcases all of his styles within the two minutes and 52 seconds combined with some of the most nuanced production to date from the guitar wizard Zach Fogarty, Austin Corona and Wyatt Bernard of nobody nobody, and Jean himself.

Jean is never one to shy away from the easter egg or two, kicking off the track with a distorted “two” before singing his first line, “Two faced friends out the window” - implying this could be the second track of CHAOS NOW*. He seamlessly flows between post modern rock hooks, distortion and reverb riddled verses, and a sweet and melodious pre-chorus in a manner that only Jean could pull off.

Throughout the track, Jean explores how just because he is a prominent figure doesn’t make him different from anyone else. Speaking on the track, he said, “We are all the same, we are all bags of flesh, tryna prove that we're not as bad as we know we are." 

The themes are exemplified in the video, directed by Bradley J. Calder, portraying a mummified Jean as he sits in an empty theater by himself and struggles through encounters with the paparazzi, combatting the anxiety that arises in these situations.
