After making himself known as one of the most promising indie acts in the past few years, Monét Ngo is ready to break new ground. The San Jose native first made noise in 2022 with his debut album After School Club with standout track “Ruby Sparks”. After dropping the catchy single "Tarantula Queen” last year, Monét is back with “Hotel Bar”, a moody, evolving ballad that brings the artist into new directions.

The track has great, nuanced production throughout, from weepy acoustic guitar to punchy drums and flourishes of keyboard throughout. The lyrics of the track point to Monét in a place of longing, missing someone who he lost and sitting with his heartbreak and loneliness despite being in the bar of a 5-star hotel. The song starts downtempo, sad and hopeless, but switches halfway into an upbeat indie-pop jam with the catchy “Hotel Bar” hook. The two sides of the track complement each other very well, both reflecting different perspectives of a lost yet hopeful relationship. Look for Monét to make even more noise with later releases this year.
