Wes Patrick might just be my new favorite thing. His new single, “AIRHEAD,” epitomizes everything I love most in a song: a hook I can’t get out of my head, a bit of rock influence, and a whole lot of fun.
From the get-go, Patrick completely captivates the listener’s attention with an introduction to the mysterious subject of the song – his ex. Despite the seemingly long relationship between the two, he knows very little about her, singing, “She call me an asshole, yeah / Top floor chilling, look through glass walls, yeah / $5K coming through her Cashapp, damn / And she won't tell me where she work at.” Patrick goes on to describe all the purchases that add to his confusion, from attending Coachella to having a Tesla. A repeating electric guitar riff headlines an exciting instrumental, pairing perfectly with the catchiness of the track.
The only thing this song is missing is answers – I keep relistening, hoping to find a hidden clue, but with no such luck. Listen to “AIRHEAD” below:
