LA duo, Calabasas, continues their successful summer with yet another beautiful single alongside Bay Area singer, Marc E. Bassy. This is the duo’s first release since their 10 track project, Time To Live, with rapper, UnoTheActivist.
“Voices” brings a relatable chorus from Marc E. Bassy, leading to an energetic beat drop with infectious harmonies and bars from Watrcup. It isn’t just the vocals that bring this track to life, as Franskiiz’s catchy guitar melody adds the cherry to the cake. The visuals of “Voices,” directed by Nick Lumarque, captures everything the track represents: a summer bop that you can’t resist, as both Marc E. Bassy and Watrcup sing their hearts out in the middle of Los Angeles, while Franskiiz rips the guitar. Watrcup’s sense of confusion as he looks at a woman he seems to like, talking to another man represents a relatable situation for many. Once again, Calabasas has visuals that brilliantly capture what the track conveys.
After a jam packed summer with two successful singles, “First Time Thing” and “Gory Love,” along with their collab project with UnoTheActivist, the duo shows no sign of stopping anytime soon. Their versatility, sonically, mixed with their personalities are poised to send them in the right direction in the near future.
