In the summer of 2020, Gap and Kanye West announced a partnership deal in which they revealed that a Yeezy x Gap line was scheduled to unveil in 2021. Currently, they have updated fans with a firmer drop date. According to a report from Business of Fashion, Gap stated that the Yeezy line is on track to launch by the end of June. This report also described the importance of this release for Gap, since there were a number of locations closed recently.
Gap described that they are “excited to welcome Kanye back to the Gap family as a creative visionary, building on the aesthetic and success of his Yeezy brand.” Mark Breitbard, the Global Head of the Gap Brand, also stated that they are excited to together define a “next-level retail partnership.”
The collaborative line will feature “modern, elevated” pieces for men, women, and children at accessible price points for all. The designs will be available in stores and online over time. In April of 2021, West created his logo and unveiled #WestDayEver. It keeps Gap’s blue and white color scheme and is known for replacing Gap with “YZY.” See Kanye’s Tweet below:
