The Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show, set to take place on February 13, 2022, will feature a legendary collaboration among superstars Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige & Kendrick Lamar. The show will take place in Sofi Stadium in Inglewood, California, a fitting venue for Dre and Lamar, who are from Compton, and Snoop Dogg, who is from Long Beach. In many ways the show will symbolize an important cultural moment and an appreciation of where hip hop has come from, where it is, and where it is going. Dr. Dre, who has produced for all four accompanying artists as well as featured them on his own work, commented on the performance.
“The opportunity to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime show, and to do it in my own backyard, will be one of the biggest thrills of my career. I’m grateful to JAY-Z, Roc Nation, the NFL and Pepsi as well as Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar for joining me in what will be an unforgettable cultural moment.”
This will be the third Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime show, following up performances from Shakira and Jennifer Lopez, as well as The Weeknd. Pepsi marketing VP, Todd Kaplan, has very high hopes for the performance. “Artists like Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg were at the forefront of the West Coast hip-hop revolution, so to be able to bring them back to L.A., where it all began alongside Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar will prove to be an epic, unforgettable celebration of the impact hip-hop has today,” Kaplan noted. “The Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show has become a landmark cultural moment, bringing about some of the most iconic performances over the years -- from J.Lo and Shakira to Lady Gaga to The Weeknd -- and we are thrilled to bring together such an incredible array of talented, record-breaking musicians to put on a performance for the ages.”
