The Weeknd has landed a series order on HBO with his new show, The Idol, created with producer Reza Fahim, and 'Euphoria' creator Sam Levinson.
"When the multitalented Abel 'The Weeknd' Tesfaye, Reza Fahim, and Sam Levinson brought us 'The Idol,' it was clear their subversive, revelatory take on the cult of the music industry was unlike anything HBO had ever done before," says HBO programming Executive VP Francesca Orsi.
The Idol is a story of a rising female pop star who becomes romantically involved with a self-help guru and cult leader. The show will star the Weeknd, Lily-Rose Depp, and newly announced cast members Troye Sivan.
