Chris LaRocca cultivates an indie pop and R&B vibe with his new EP smile because it happened, a 4 track project with infectious melodies and bright production released under the independent Red Bull Records/Wonderchild. The Toronto born vocalist and producer was first exposed to music through the jazz his father played around his childhood home in opening up his ears to the likes of Miles Davis and John Coltrane. Beyond LaRocca’s solo career he’s also a producer and songwriter whose credits extend to artists like Kali Uchis. His 2019 releases “Salt” and “Dice Out” are indicative of his soulful roots. 

His new EP smile because it happened, is inspired by the idea of appreciating that a relationship happened, rather than dwelling over the fact that it’s over. “like u” embodies LaRocca’s soft R&B tone and his stylish pop production. “breakup coach” (featuring Kyle Wildfern & Seago) is a high energy breakup track, reminiscent of Post Malone, inspired by a situation the artist had with his ex where they would give each other advice for moving on. “We'd check in on each other and share our stories about what being single was like, which ultimately helped us get over one another through these types of conversations. I thought it was kind of funny that we were coaching each other through our own breakup.”  “switch” and “gloria”  are romantic songs, perfect for the summer, that showcase LaRocca’s vocal abilities and lyricism. With his enticing vocals and velvety production, Chris LaRocca is a promising artist and undoubtedly one to watch.
